Our Vision
To be the leader in providing effective and efficient wholesale energy services to public power.
Our Mission
To deliver comprehensive energy trading, marketing, risk management, and related services to public power organizations nationwide.
Corporate Information
The Energy Authority, Inc., (TEA) is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated under the Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code. It maintains its headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, with two additional offices to service client accounts. The Seattle office in Bellevue, Washington and at the Portland office in Vancouver, Washington.
Business Background
TEA was organized in 1997 by three of its six current owners (JEA, MEAG, and Santee Cooper) to address the changes in the electric utility industry, enhance the use of its owners' electric generating assets in the wholesale electric power market, optimize power purchases from the wholesale market for its owners, create economies of scale and reduced operating costs with respect to energy trading and marketing, and to assist owners with managing risks in the Wholesale Energy Marketplace. Soon after its inception, TEA began providing the same services it provided to owners to non-owner public power organizations. TEA has a business model for the delivery of services that does not discriminate between owners and non-owners.
